Cedar Key offers productive fishing year-round, but the best time depends on your target species. Spring through fall is excellent for redfish and trout, while tarpon fishing peaks in late spring and summer. Cooler months produce great inshore action, especially for redfish and black drum, but be sure to cold weather gear!
We primarily target redfish, trout, and black drum. Depending on the season and conditions, we may also encounter tarpon, cobia and spanish mackerel on our trips.
No experience is necessary. Our charters are designed for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced anglers. We provide guidance, instruction, and all necessary equipment to ensure a successful and enjoyable trip.
Yes! We specialize in fly fishing and often times prefer it. The shallow flats and clear waters create excellent opportunities for sight fishing redfish and black drum while Tarpon can be had in the Spring and Summer months. We can accommodate both experienced fly anglers and those new to fly fishing. Please let us know if casting instruction is necessary before booking your trip.
All fishing gear, rods, reels, tackle and water are provided. Your guide will also supply local knowledge, instruction, and a customized fishing plan based on the conditions. Make sure to bring sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and appropriate clothing for both sun and rainy conditions.
We recommend bringing sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, a hat, non-marking shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing. While water is provided, you are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks. Also, if you would like to fish with your own equipment, that is totally OK!
We encourage catch and release to help preserve the Cedar Key fishery. If you plan to keep fish, let us know ahead of time so we can review current regulations.
Trip lengths can vary depending on your preference, but most Cedar Key fishing charters range from half-day (4 hours) to full-day (8 hours) trips. We can tailor the trip duration based schedule and the weather.
Trips typically depart from Cedar Key boat ramps or nearby launch locations. Exact meeting details will be provided at the time of booking based on conditions.

Yes, trips great for anglers of all ages. Keep in mind that our skiff can usually hold no more than 2 adults and possibly an additional small child or person. We can tailor the experience to ensure a fun and safe trip for everyone.
